Gamebwoy.
I couldn’t resist sharing this picture of my brilliant new pimped out Nintento Gameboy synth. It’s nearly as old as I am and will inject some retro gaming fun into some of my tracks over the coming year. Not sure that 1985 technology qualifies as vintage yet, but it’s awesome nonetheless. I have renamed it the GameBwoy in light of it’s new pimped status.

Editing Away.
I’m busy mixing some fantastic big band tunes that I recently wrote with Tim Garland. They were recorded with a host of fantastic players at Livingstone Studios in London. As well as releasing the live traditional versions of these tracks, there will also be a slew of remixes laced with beats and ridiculously low bass.
Here is a taster of what you can expect….

Ska Sessions.
A sneak peek at a summer studio session, recording a batch of retro Ska tunes with London’s awesome horn section Kick Horns.
We used original STC 4038 ribbon microphones to ‘keep it real’ and retro. Fantastic!

Vintage Neve Action.
Just picked up this vintage Neve 1084 unit from Chris @ Soundlock Engineering who has been restoring it to it’s late 1970′s glory. It will soon be joining the rest of the vintage Neve collection that is slowly growing in the studio. Precious metal…Yes!

Drummer Evan Jenkins popped by recently to assist with some old school funk….Check out his band Neil Cowley Trio, they rule in a Jazz fashion.

Foo Fighters @ Milton Keynes.
Sometimes something happens at a gig that must be shared with the world. Behold! Dinghy man. This guy was out riding around the crowd in a boat for 45 minutes…

Then on with the rock…Side of stage watching FF slay Milton Keynes bowl.

Abbey Road with the RPO.
A couple of los-res camera phone shots from the fantastic day I had recently recording the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra playing some parts on my new tracks. We tracked strings in Studio 1, which is a huge live room that has been used on for countless movie scores. I spent much of the day in the live room listening to them up close. It was an unbelievable experience.

Red Light Fever.

Audient Black Series.
The peeps from Audient came around to make a short video of me playing around with their black series modules in the studio. They are in use daily at the studio and they are black, which is nice.
